I is something movable

The exhibition title takes inspiration from Sören Kierkegaard's concept of the human self, defined as an active relationship with oneself, the world, and God. This philosophical idea is explored in a text-image collage, accessible via a QR code within the exhibition, where it is contrasted with a concept of art.

A central feature of the exhibition is the juxtaposition of two artistic perspectives. The chair and the “empty” space beneath it serve as a meeting point for Bruce Nauman's sculpture, Cast of the Space under my Chair—the exhibition’s starting point—and Henri Matisse’s comparison of art to a comfortable armchair. These ideas are further explored in the text-image collage.

In a two-channel video projection, the camera takes viewers on a journey through and around a house built for the sculptures. This immersive experience invites visitors to sit back, absorb the atmosphere of the house, and reflect on the collage in this contemplative setting.

On December 15, the exhibition was brought to life through a captivating performance by artist Jimin Seo. Specially developed for the work I is something movable, her performance added a dynamic layer to the exhibition, exploring themes of identity, movement, and transformation. By engaging directly with the space and the artwork, Jimin Seo offered visitors a unique, ephemeral experience that deepened their connection to the exhibition’s concepts, emphasizing the fluid and ever-changing relationship between self, art, and environment.
